New Delhi, March 17
In a road rage incident, two youths were beaten up and their Tata Safari car was set on fire at Jamia Nagar the early morning today.
An MCD dump truck was also damaged in the incident, which occurred near the Jamia Nagar police station. The accused driving a Scorpio car fled the site. The police was later deployed in the area.

The incident occurred at 12.30 am. The two victims are Feroz Alam (28), a builder and Surender (30), a driver. They have identified a 28-year-old man who belongs to the group of persons who thrashed them. A case of damaging government property has been registered against unknown persons.

Feroz and Surender were travelling in their Tata Safari car at Jamia Nagar and heading towards Noida last night. According to the police, their vehicle might have brushed past the Scorpio vehicle plying in Jamia Nagar.

The collision probably angered the occupants of the Scorpio car, who overtook the Tata Safari and intercepted it near the Jamia Nagar police station.

"They blocked our way and forced us to come out of the car," said a victim in his statement to the police.

According to the police, the occupants of the Scorpio car telephoned their friends from the nearby locality and then thrashed the two victims. The miscreants later set their Tata Safari car on fire. An MCD dump truck also caught fire.

Sources said that the police tried to control the situation only after the fight was over and the victims were severely beaten. A large contingent of police personnel was deployed to prevent further violence.

The police is trying to piece together the incident after recording the victims'
statements.

Such incidents of road rage have happened in Delhi earlier also. A youth driving an SUV vehicle fired a gun at the driver of an i-10 car, who was not giving him way at a road in Narela, Outer Delhi at the beginning of this month.
