Armed assailants attack youth

Jalandhar, March 7
A youth was seriously injured when armed assailants attacked him near his residence at New Jawahar Nagar. The injured has been identified as 21-year-old Rahul Singhal. The victim was seriously injured and was admitted to a private hospital.

Victim’s father Brijesh Singhal, a stock broker, said a car collided with a Gypsy outside their residence this afternoon. This led to heated arguments between the occupants of the two vehicles, he said.

After a few minutes, the car-borne youth left the spot. However, after some time, the car-borne youths along with their accomplices arrived at the spot.

“As my son was standing outside the house, he indulged in talks with the Gypsy borne youths. The armed assailants considering my son as their friend and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons,” the victim’s father said. He sustained multiple fractures and was in a critical state, he added.

The victim has identified one of the assailants as Karan Thakur.

4 more youths arrested in kidnapping case

The police has arrested four more youth in the kidnapping case of a tantrik’s disciple The tantrik’s disciple was kidnapped from his office situated near the ISBT a few days ago.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sourab Tandon, Vishal, Harpreet Singh and Rohit, all residents of Hoshiarpur. The police said the accused were arrested from Hoshiarpur following a tip-off.

The accused had kidnapped the Sawayam, a disciple of a local tantrik, Shoyab. The police is yet to arrest Ved Parkash, Yash, Monu, Vishal Verma, and two unknown persons.

Two held with 1 kg of ganja

The Police Division No. 2 police today arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 1 kg of ganja from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Raman Kumar, a resident of Basti Danishmanda, and Mudhita, a resident of Shakti Nagar.

Police sources said that following a tip-off, the accused were arrested after conducting a raid at a house in the Shakti Nagar locality.

During interrogation, the accused have confessed that they used to buy the contraband from Bihar and sell it in the city, the police said.
