Sikh jatha leaves for Gurdwara Nanak Jheera in Karnataka
Amritsar, February 29
A Sikh jatha at the Akal Takht before leaving for a march to Nanded Sahib on Wednesday in Amritsar A 100-member Sikh jatha today left for a 2000-km march on foot to Gurdwara Nanak Jheera at Bidar in Karnataka to participate in 500th anniversary celebrations of the historic shrine associated with Guru Nanak Dev.

3 snatchers arrested
Batala, February 29
The police has arrested three purse snatchers here yesterday. Bakhtawar Singh, SI/SHO, said three people namely Amritpal Singh, Varun Deep Singh and another Amritpal Singh have been arrested while their accomplice Jagroop Singh is absconding.

Tarsem Lal, a rickshawpuller, from Piplanwala died on the spot when an unknown vehicle hit him near ITI College, last evening. Model Town police has registered a case under Sections 279, 304 A and 427 of the IPC.

Sikh jatha leaves for Gurdwara Nanak Jheera in Karnataka

Amritsar, February 29
A 100-member Sikh jatha today left for a 2000-km march on foot to Gurdwara Nanak Jheera at Bidar in Karnataka to participate in 500th anniversary celebrations of the historic shrine associated with Guru Nanak Dev.

The jatha, led by Swaran Singh Khalsa, was flagged off from Sri Akal Takht Sahib by Damdami Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa today. The jatha will reach the holy shrine before April 27, the day when the celebrations would begin. Jaspal Singh, who is looking after the march, said they would not face any problem regarding meals and overnight stay in Punjab and Delhi. For onward journey, they have made arrangements for tents and langar to ensure that the jatha doesn’t face any problem. — TNS

3 snatchers arrested

Batala, February 29
The police has arrested three purse snatchers here yesterday. Bakhtawar Singh, SI/SHO, said three people namely Amritpal Singh, Varun Deep Singh and another Amritpal Singh have been arrested while their accomplice Jagroop Singh is absconding.

They snatched a purse from Kuljit Kaur, a teacher, the police said adding that a case has been registered against them. — OC
