Double murder in Zirakpur
Victims are mother & sister of the girl who had allegedly made MMS of her estranged friend after stripping her in October, 2011

Zirakpur, January 12
The mother and younger sister of one of the four girls, who had allegedly made an MMS (multimedia messaging service) clip of their estranged friend after stripping her in a car in October last year in Panchkula, were found murdered at their house in Har Milap Nagar (Baltana) here late this evening. Both bodies, bearing blunt injury marks, were found lying on the first floor of the house that was found unlocked.

SDM fails to pay guest house rent

Love triangle behind murder at Mohali village
Mohali, January 12
A love triangle has turned out to be the reason behind the blind murder of a 32-year-old man whose body was found in the fields at Kandala village on December 8 last year. While claiming to have arrested five persons in the case, the police today identified the deceased as Kulbhushan, alias Tinu Rai.

Sambhar strays into residential area

Barely a fortnight after a panther had ventured into Sector 10 here from the Shivalik hills of Morni, today a sambhar strayed into a house of Sector 9 in the morning. The wild animal was spotted by a passer-by while it was entering house no. 314. He bolted the gates from outside and informed the forest officials who tranquilised the beast and released it in the forest area in the afternoon. It took the officials two hours to tranquilise the sambhar.

2 women killed in accidents

Two women were killed in separate road accidents in Lalru yesterday. An elderly woman, Kesar Kaur (87), was killed after she was run over by a truck near Malakpur village on the Lalru-Handesra road in the morning. She was the mother of SAD working committee member Amrik Singh Malakpur.

Man defrauded of Rs 62,000 through net-banking
Chandigarh, January 12
Two cases of cyber fraud were registered in the city today. The first was registered on the complaint of a Sector-15 resident who was duped of Rs 62,000, the money having been siphoned off from his account through net-banking.

Man arrested for rape of TV actress
Panchkula, January 12
The district police last night arrested Atul Kumar of Sector 11 for allegedly raping a TV actress (27), who resided in Mohali, on October 27. He drugged the actress and raped her on the pretext of providing her a chance in a Bollywood film. The police produced the accused in the local court today from where he was sent to judicial custody. On October 27, in her complaint to the police, the woman had alleged that Atul, who had known to her for the past four months, had told her that he had contacts with many film producers. He promised her a role in a movie.

Immoral-trafficking racket busted

The CIA staff of the Mohali police today claimed to have busted an immoral-trafficking racket being run in the region. Five women were arrested from a house in Sector 68 here.
