Rs 7.96 cr for infrastructure in schools

To provide adequate infrastructure and to upgrade the education standard in the primary and middle schools of the district, a grant of Rs.7.96 crore has been sanctioned under the Sarv Sikhya Abhiyan and out of this, Rs.5.96 crore has been utilised. Construction of boundary walls, toilets, submersible pumps for drinking water are going on in full swing, said Yashveer Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner, while presiding over the meeting of the District Education Development Committee here today.

The volleyball team of GGD SD College, Hariana, thrashed Malwa College, Samrala, by 3-2 in an exciting league match of Panjab University Inter-College Volleyball (B-Division) for Men, being held here today. The winning side lost the first set by 22-25 but won the second and third set by 27-25 and 25-20 respectively. The loosing side again came back in the match in the fourth set by 21-25 but lost the final set by 15-07.
