Dera Bassi, Lalru students excel in class X exam

HDera Bassi, June 4
Students of Dera Bassi and Lalru areas have been successful in getting high grades in CBSE class X results declared recently.

Students of Saint Attri Public School, Lalru, have received high grades. Two students of the school received a perfect cumulative grade point average CGPA of 10. Bindya Rana and Gursimran Kaur have received the above grade in the examination. Kajol Dubey secured 9.8, Pratibha Parik and Pooja Saini got 9.6, Subham Kapil and Nihariaka Kumari 9.2 and Deepsikha Sharma and Danishveer have received grade 9 in the examination. School chairman Roop Singh Rana and principal Suneeta Gupta said that 35 students had appeared in the examination and all have done well. Meanwhile, the result of Sukhmani School has been 100 per cent. Ekta Chauhan and Prabhjaot Kaur scored a CGPA of 10. Anjani Walia scored 9.8, Maninder Kaur, Sakshi Kapoor and Komal Thakur scored 9.6, Harmeet Kaur scored 9.2 and Inderpreet Kaur scored 9. — OC

Revenue department takes up pending cases

A camp was organised by revenue department at Gharuan near here to solve pending cases of people pertaining to revenue matters.

Mohali Deputy Commissioner Varun Roojam called upon people to make the most out of such camps that provide solution to all pending issues under one roof.

Gharuan has eleven patwar circles and 36 villages. The camp was held at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Gharuan.

Roojam said such camps would be held at all “kanugo”-levels so that people need not run from pillar to post to get their work done.

He said patwaris had been directed to bring land records of respective areas with them during the camps. On the post, around 98 land mutation cases were entered as sanctioned, 36 copies of land records were handed over and two cases of correction of land mutation were given.Also, two applications for land demarcation were accepted.

The DC also visited spots where water had accumulated in the periphery of Gharuan village and saw the blocked open drain damaging the roads.

He directed the officials concerned to carry out such works on priority basis. MLA Morinda Uajagar Singh Badali said such camps were helpful in clearing backlogs and maintaining transparency in the system.

SDM Kharar Rajiv Gupta, tehsildar Rajesh Dhiman, naib-tehsildar Rajpal Singh and patwaris of all circles were present.

Traffic disruption claims life

Traffic disruption on NH-22 and NH-2A claimed the life of a woman, who suffered heart attack today.

According to sources, Rajinder Pal, a resident of Anchal Vihar Colony, Pinjore, took his mother Manju Pal, to a nearby hospital for emergency help around 11am, but traffic jam on NH-21A, Pinjore-Nalagarh highway, wated their time in reaching PHC, Pinjore, where he found the hospital closed due to holiday.

He took his mother to Kalka CHC, but long queue of vehicles from Housing Board, Kalka, to Gandhi Chowk, Kalka, wasted their “golden hour” in reaching Kalka CHC and the condition of his mother got deteriorated. Though the police helped them out of the traffic, when he reached Kalka hospital, doctors declared his mother brought dead.

Notably, traffic jams in Pinjore and Kalka have already claimed several lives in the past couple of years.

Gang of thieves busted

Chandigarh, June 4
With the arrest of three persons, the Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police has claimed to have busted a gang of thieves.

The accused, identified as Akash Babu (22), Rinku (19), both residents of Sector 4, Panchkula, and Rajinder Kumar (22), a resident of Indra Colony, were actively involved in the theft of LPG cylinders.

Inspector Neeraj Sarna said Akash Babu and Rinku were actively involved in house thefts and Rajinder Kumar used to buy stolen property from them and dispose it off. With their arrest, as many as five cases of theft reported in different parts of the city have been solved. As many as 16 LPG cylinders, one Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle, one Sony Bravia LCD one TV and one DVD have been recovered from them.

According to the police, Akash Babu, leader of the gang, is a Class VIII dropout and is a native of Moradabad. He came to Chandigarh five years ago and started working as a sweeper in private companies and used to work as a waiter at marriages and other parties at night. The accused are in the police custody and more recoveries are likely to be made from them.

Man nabbed, stolen mobike recovered

The UT police today arrested one person identified as Ram Singh Prajapati alias Billi, a resident of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. The accused was currently residing at Raipur village near Chandigarh.

The police recovered a Pulsar motorcycle stolen by the accused. An FIR case regarding the stolen motorcycle was registered at the Sector 39 police station. The motorcycle belonged to Anubhav Sharma, a resident of 1192/B Sector-41/B. The accused was produced before the area magistrate and has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
