Six persons, including three women and an eight-year-old girl, sustained injuries after half-a-dozen robbers struck at a house at Bhammian Kalan village in the wee hours today morning and decamped with Rs 70,000 cash and gold jewellery.

Brazen attack on family near DSP office; 1 held
Jagraon, May 7
Panic gripped the Tehsil Road area here today when over 12 persons attacked a baptised Sikh, tearing off his clothes and manhandling him. The attackers did not even spare the victim’s family and assaulted his wife and two children.

Girl abducted 3 days ago found in sedated condition
Ludhiana, May 7
A 14-year-old girl, who was abducted from a factory unit on the Bahadurke road on May 4, was found lying unconscious on a roadside with her hands and legs tied. The girl sustained injuries on her head and bruises on hands and legs. She was found from the same spot from where she was abducted three days ago.

A mother gives to her child the most precious gift -- life, but 80-year-old Krishna Monga gave this gift twice to her daughter Sunita. The gutsy mother donated her kidney to save her daughter’s life while the latter had a renal failure. Unfortunately, her sacrifice could not save her child. Recalling the trauma, Krishna narrates her tale of woe. “It was in 1992 that my hail and hearty 30-year-old daughter Sunita was diagnosed to be suffering from renal failure.

Reimbursement for govt employees

Bringing relief to hundreds of patients from Himachal Pradesh undergoing treatment at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) here, the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to reimburse medical expenses of government employees and their dependants incurred here.

ATM broken before inauguration
Ludhiana, May 7
Before bank authorities could formally inaugurate the ATM of the State Bank of India (SBI) located at Kaser Gunj Mandi, the thieves broke the machine, but failed to take away the cash. However, this incident embarrassed bank authorities, who cancelled the programme minutes before the formal inauguration ceremony.

Bathinda make Ludhiana struggle

Hosts Ludhiana continued with the dismal performance as they found themselves struggling against Bathinda in the second match of the Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Tournament (u-16) for the ML Markan Trophy being played on Satish Chander Dhawan Government College ground here today.
