Psycho stalker shot Radhika to avenge beating: Cops
New Delhi, March 11 The youth, identified as Vijay, alias Ram Singh, is yet to be arrested, but the Delhi police has detained two of his friends-- Ashraf and Tabrez-- from Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh and they are being brought to Delhi. According to H.G.S. Dhaliwal, DCP (South), the duo is likely to be arrested on its arrival in the national Capital for sheltering and assisting Vijay in escaping after the murder. "The two have corroborated the sequence of events after the murder and revealed that Vijay shot Radhika to avenge the humiliation which he had to undergo after some villagers bashed him up for stalking her about three years ago," said Dhaliwal. He said efforts were on to nab Vijay. According to information, Vijay was sacked by his employer after the beating incident and he went to Mumbai. However, he was in touch with some friends working at Naraina and often talked about avenging the humiliation and “injustice”. "Vijay came back from Mumbai about one month ago and approached his former employer Kamaal for a job, but was refused. He then joined an embroidery unit in Shakurpurbasti and stalked Radhika twice before shooting her on Tuesday," said Dhaliwal. The police managed to identify him after several intelligence inputs in Nariana village and help from Kamaal. It has emerged that after shooting Radhika, Vijay contacted Ashraf and Tabrez, who were living in the Rohini area, and in the night, told them about having killed Radhika. However, when the news of the murder spread, Vijay asked the duo to bring his clothes from Shakurpurbasti and decided to leave Delhi. "Tabrez and Ashraf brought Vijay's belongings and then went with him to Gurgaon. After spending the night there, they left Vijay at the Gurgaon railway station and went to their native village, Biswa in Sitapur district," revealed Dhaliwal. According to him, Ashraf and Tabrez also worked as daily labourers in embroidery units. Vijay has a “psycho-streak” and enjoys stalking women. |

5 held for multi-crore bank loan fraud
New Delhi, March 11 Luxury cars, 15 national/international SIM cards, cash worth lakhs of rupees, fake documents i.e. PAN cards, ID cards, Forms-16 and salary slips of MNCs, registration certificates, driving licenses, etc. have been seized from their possession. According to Parwaiz Ahmed, additional DCP (central), the accused have been identified as Jitesh Kumar, Manish Chaudhary, Sandeep Chaudhary, Rajesh Kumar and Rahul. The arrest followed an investigation into the complaint filed by one Lalit Kumar at the Ranjit Nagar police station who was cheated by the gang on the pretext of giving him a personal loan. "Since only the names of the accused were available and no other details were known, technical surveillance was mounted to apprehend the accused," said Ahmed. It was revealed that taking advantage of their knowledge of the procedure and the loopholes involved in pursuing loans, they used to approach public sector banks, masquerading themselves as employees of reputed MNCs and used to impress the branch manager with their fluent English. The gang used to present applications on fictitious names for vehicle loans for luxury vehicles and attach fabricated documents in support of the proof of ID, address, income and quotations of luxury cars. Once the loan was sanctioned, in order to obtain the cheque for loan amount, they used to present a fake cash receipt to the bank purported to have been obtained from the vehicle dealer as the margin money (20 per cent of the total price of the vehicle is to be paid by the applicant himself and the same is called margin money). "In order to get the said cheques encashed, they used to get an account opened in advance in the name of the said vehicle dealers (which actually existed), again on fake documents. They also used to prepare fake registration and insurance certificates and used to submit copies of these documents in the bank to confirm that the vehicle had already been delivered to them. Further, to win their confidence, they regularly paid the EMIs," said Ahmed. According to the police, the gang has got 34 vehicle worth Rs 2.34 crore sanctioned on fake documents without purchasing the vehicles. Further investigation is on and the role of bank employees is also being probed. |

BJP seeks probe into dirty water
New Delhi, March 11 Delhi unit chief of the BJP Vijender Gupta said a letter had been written to the Lt Governor in this regard and a party delegation would meet him to discuss the issue. He said on complaints from many people about contaminated water being supplied by the DJB, the Public Health Department of the MCD had lifted 616 samples of water supplied from 11 zones of the city and sent for testing in the government laboratory at Rajpur Road. In the report, 111 samples from 10 zones were found to be full of "poisonous bacteria". The DJB is supplying almost contaminated water in south zone, Karol Bagh zone and Civil Lines zone. The report from other zones also is not good. Out of 616 samples taken, 505 samples were between the border line of fit and unfit. The bacteria found in the failed samples may cause typhoid, cholera, gastroenteritis, jaundice and hepatitis-A which are all dangerous diseases, he said. This has been brought to the knowledge of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who is the chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board, but nothing is being done. In foreign countries, water is supplied only after testing the samples on daily basis. The DJB is not doing so, he said. |

Talking about the project, the official said the council was in the process of zeroing in a consultant. We hope to get support of the Delhi government and the ministry of urban development and expect to get funds under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission," said NDMC chairman Parimal Rai. The NDMC officials said the project would run on software which would suggest the gaps and help improve the efficiency of the water distribution network. The other new initiative planned by the NDMC is the introduction of smart cards for the students of its schools in the city. The smart card will provide the entire record of the child from his health reports to performance in the classroom. "These cards will be given to all students and will have health status details of students to be used in case of any emergency and their educational profile to help assess any gaps and requirements," said the chairman.
