DCP announces sticker-challaning
Jalandhar, January 14 With the introduction of this new system, the traffic police personnel will paste a challan sticker on the wind screens of all wrongly and haphazardly parked vehicles (including two wheelers) in the city. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Arun Pal Singh said the traffic police personnel will paste a copy of a challan sticker on the vehicle, so that owners may come to know about the challan. A second copy of the challan will be with the traffic wing. The one-time offender would be slapped a fine of Rs 100, while the amount of the penalty will continue to multiply as the violator fails to comply with directions. The challan will automatically go to the court if the offender fails to pay it within five days, the DCP said. DS Dhillon, Assistant Commissioner of city Police, said the traffic police will also tow-away wrongly parked vehicles and paste challan stickers at the site from where the vehicle was towed-away. The violators could contact the challaning officers at a help line number mentioned at the challan slips. The DCP, however, said the wrongly parked vehicles, which either create traffic congestion or may result into a road accident, will be targeted in the initial stage. |
