Phagwara Girl run over by train: A Bihari migratory girl, Ranju (15), was run over by the Jalandhar-bound 303 Up Summer Special train near Phagwara Railway Station on Tuesday noon. She was crossing the railway lines. The GRP has sent the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. Ban on hoardings: SDM Amarjeet Paul has imposed ban on the installation of hoardings, banners and posters on the national highways with immediate effect under section 144 of the CrPC. The orders will remain in force till August 14. In a press note issued on Tuesday, Paul said any hoarding, banner or poster could be installed only with the prior permission of the Executive Officer in the town and of Tehsildar in rural localities of the subdivision. Vehicle thief arrested :The police has arrested a vehicle thief, Sarabjit Singh, resident of nearby Gaunspur village, and recovered two stolen motorcycles today.Sarabjit was trying to sell the motorcycles.electrocuted:Inderjit (10) was electrocuted in his house at Ravidasspura here on Monday night. He was playing on the roof when he accidentally touched live high tension wires. He was taken to the Phillaur Civil Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. In another incident, a woman, Harjinder Kaur, died due to snake bite at nearby Jaggo-Sangha village on Monday night. In another incident, an unidentified middle aged man was run over by a train near Phillaur railway station on Monday. |
