Technology centre: Firebox Animation Studios has set up a Firebox Group of Institute of Information and Technology Centre at Kharar. The institute will provide industrial training in disciplines like BSc, BTech, BCom, marketing MBA, BCA, MCA, Java, Net, C, C++, spoken English, computer basics, auto CAD, fashion CAD, PHP etc.

Passed away
: Prof Mohan Singh, father of Dr Narinder Pal Singh (professor at Punjab Agricultural University) passed away today at the DMCH. Prof Singh was undergoing treatment at the hospital following his prolonged illness. Having served as political science teacher at GGN Khalsa College, Prof Singh joined Punjab and Sid Bank and retired from a high post.

SC panel member to visit Moga
: Member of the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes Dalip Singh Pandhi has decided to visit Moga on May 31 and record statements of the victims and their family members besides civil/police officials in the ongoing investigations into cases of atrocities against Dalits reported during the past one year. Pandhi said despite repeated requests, officials of the district administration and the police did not cooperate with the commission in investigating sensitive matters due to which, he was forced to visit Moga and conduct on-the-spot investigations. “Rather an attempt is being made to hush up some cases to protect influential persons or their wards in the area”, he said.

Credit card fraud unearthed
: The crime branch of Kashmir on Wednesday arrested a person for fraudulent use of a credit card. Reyaz Ahmed Kapra, alias Shahid Nazir, of Lalbazar,purchased an air ticket from the credit card of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat without his knowledge. The police has registered a case and the accused has also been arrested. In another case of fraud, two employees of Oriental Insurance Company were arrested by the crime branch for fabricating a fire insurance policy. The accused have been arrested and a case registered. 

16 houses damaged in landslide: Nearly 16 families living in the frontier tehsil of Uri had a miraculous escape on Tuesday when a landslide damaged 16 houses and a mosque.Police sources said the landslide occured in the Chadyan Zambor Patan village in Uri.The families were shifted to a safe place and provided shelter.
