Protests ahead of Ashutosh Maharaj’s visit

Protests and meetings were held here today ahead of the three-day visit of spiritual guru Ashutosh Maharaj on December 5. His followers and members of other religious organisations opposing him came out on the roads and gave a tough time to the police.

Woman, son held for immigration racket

The police has nabbed a woman and her son, travel agents, for duping youths on the pretext of sending them abroad.
Kulwant Kaur and Raj Kumar were on the run for the past six months after they were booked by the Jodhewal police for cheating Harjeet Singh of Rs 2.80 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Hong Kong. |

Four get jail for smuggling heroin
Ludhiana, December 2
Four drug peddlers have been convicted of possessing 8.6 kg of heroin worth over Rs 50 crore. They have been sentenced to undergo 10-year rigorous imprisonment.

Demolition drive in congested areas

Continuing with its drive against encroachments, the demolition squad today undertook an operation in various inner and congested areas of the old city.
