Cops set to conduct raid on Amaltas
Action follows reports of prostitution at resort

With the Amaltas resort scheduled to close on November 15 there are more problems lying in store for the state-run tourism resort located on the city’s periphery. According to sources close to the police, orders have been given to conduct a police raid on the resort following reports of the flesh trade going on there.

Travel agent booked for duping man of Rs 12 lakh

The Shimlapuri police today booked a Mumbai based travel agent for duping a local resident of Rs 12 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad.

‘Rail roko’ stir today, passengers uneasy
Ludhiana, November 5
Victims of the 1984 riots have decided stage a ‘rail roko’ agitation here tomorrow to protest against delayed justice. Following a call given by the Punjab Danga Peerat Welfare Society the protesters, supported by several other Sikh organizations, plan to stop trains at the Gyaspura railway crossing tomorrow.

6 quintals of banned Mangoor fish seized

The fisheries department today seized six quintals of the banned Mangoor fish while it was being transported in a truck from other districts in the state. Officials of the fisheries department in coordination with the Punjab Fish Farmers Association intercepted a truck carrying the fish that was to be sold in the Sherpur market.

Will the approved design of Lakkar Bridge help in managing traffic effectively? The answer is mostly “no” if traffic and road safety experts are to be believed. Various experts had their own opinions but they agreed on this point, adding a traffic survey should have been conducted before the project was taken up.

Dejected by the failure to win over the wife of Bhuntan Rai, his friend murdered him and dumped his body in a well. The body of Bhuntan Rai of Anchal Bakhora village of Sitamari district, Bihar, was found in the well on November 3.

2 held with fake currency
