Panel to probe Harshita’s death

The district administration yesterday set up a committee to look into the reasons behind the death of Harshita, a class VI student, due to swine flu last week. The committee will have four members and will look into all factors leading to the 12-year-old girl’s death.

Accused remanded in 3-day police custody

A local court today sent Babloo, accused in the Indira Colony murder case, to three-day police custody.
Babloo was arrested yesterday and was produced before duty magistrate Mahesh
Kumar today. He is charged with murdering Tej Bahadur, alias Kallu, of Indira
Colony following a brawl recently. Following the murder, major violence sparked
off in the colony after the crowd ran amok and some miscreants also tried to
play up the whole incident as a communal outburst.

Lalit Sharma and Kuljinder Singh Saini, the two accused in a year-old case of murder of a 25-year-old ice-cream vendor, Sunil Kumar, were today remanded to three-day police remand by the local courts. The accused had beaten the victim to death at Phase VIII here on August 22, last year.
