Nawanshahr police goes online
Nawanshahr, June 6 A brainchild of SSP Rakesh Aggarwal, the scheme has granted the district a distinctive status as the Punjab DGP has asked other districts to emulate it to ensure transparency and hassle-free delivery of service to
the people. “One cannot only get all the relevant information about the district police by visiting the website, but can also get complaints registered or download FIRs and can get the status report of their passport verification or police clearance certificates, etc. The scheme would prove a boon particularly for the large number of NRIs of the district,” said Rakesh Aggarwal while giving details of the purpose behind the website. “We are aware that the lower constabulary makes the complainants and accused do endless rounds of the police stations just to get a copy of the FIR, but that loophole has now been plugged,” he said. Moreover, at a time when officials are devising ways to circumvent the provisions of the Right to Information Act, the district police has become the first police force in the country to put all the FIRs registered in the district after March 1, 2009, on its website, he said. Anybody who wants to go through any FIR can do so at the click of a button. He can also download or print the FIR. Similarly, data about the passport verification status and police clearance certificate (PCC) status have also been made online. Even foreign embassies can make use of this website in determining whether any particular PCC has
been issued by the SSP office, said Aggarwal A list of proclaimed offenders (POs), including NRI POs, has been placed on the website. Police clearance certificate forms, foreigner’s registration forms, etc. have also been provided on the
website for the convenience of the public. |
