Confirming the development, Modern School managing trustee Ashok Pratap Singh said the committee would consist of five members and medical experts. The committee will also consist of a teacher and a parent who will not participate in the investigation process but will help experts in throwing light on Akriti’s death. He added, “No action can be taken against the school principal till the committee files its report.” When asked if principal Goldy Malhotra was being pressurised to resign, he said, “We have not yet decided to remove her. We are waiting for the report. If she is found guilty, action will be taken against her.” The school remained closed even today. However, many students did not know that the school was closed and were seen standing outside the school gate. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has also constituted a committee to probe the case. Wife’s day out…campaigns, meetings, padyatras
New Delhi, April 25 The condition of East Delhi MP Sandeep Dikshit’s wife Mona Dikshit is no different, as her husband is seeking re-election from the constituency. Mona, employed with BASICS, an NGO that works for underprivileged children, is on an extended leave to assist her husband in campaigning. She is multi-tasking — planning her husband’s schedule for the day, the poll strategy, publicity, campaigning and meeting visitors. Besides, she has moved on to padyatras and public meetings. She slogs for 12 to 14 hours daily. Mona said, “Sandeep has asked me to go out, meet people,” adding that she had just returned from a padyatra in the Old Seelampur area. She said the public’s response was positive and Sandeep would win the elections again. But ask her to guess by what margin Sandeep would win, Mona refuses to take the bait. “It is hard to say, for everyone we interact with says nice things about Sandeep and the Congress,” said Mona. Mona, a post graduate from Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), Gujarat, met Sandeep at the institute. “We met at IRMA. Sandeep too was pursuing his post graduation in rural management. We got married in 1992,” grins Mona when asked how she met her husband. Mona stays in the government bungalow alloted to Sandeep at Pandara Road with him and their daughter. “We have been living in this house for the last five years ever since Sandeep became an MP. But we meet mummy regularly. Sandeep visits her daily and me and my daughter every second or third day. Being busy with campaigns, we have sent our daughter to stay with mummy,” said Mona. She said theirs was a close-knit family and the dinning-room conversation was not always politics. “We talk about development, books, music, dance…just like any other family. Sandeep is fond of folk dance, theatre and literature,” said Mona. Riveting back to the battle at hand, Mona says the development work done by Sandeep in his constituency would compel people to vote for him. “Sandeep has a vast experience and a sharp analytical mind. The development work he has carried out is for all to see. People know this and they would re-confirm it on May 7,” she signs off to catch a quick grub (lunch) before it’s time for another meeting.

GDA refuses funds for Metro’s extension
Ghaziabad, April 25 Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is currently building two and a half km long Metro track at an estimated cost of Rs 260 crore which includes building three stations at Kaushambi, Vaishali, etc. According to information available, DMRC had demanded a second instalment of Rs 130 crore from GDA for extension of track up to Vaishali according to the MoU. But GDA has refused to release the second instalment. According to GDA vice-chairman Ram Bahadur, the DMRC has not performed up to the expected level after the release of the first instalment as per the MoU conditions. DMRC and GDA signed an MoU last year for extension of Metro line up to Vaishali, but later some dispute cropped up due to a letter sent by DMRC that in the absence of Delhi NCR government’s agreement, Metro extension work up to Vaishali could not be undertaken. DMRC asked GDA to pursue the NCR Delhi government for the agreement. GDA’s stance is that there is no mention of agreement in principal in the MoU signed by it. However, GDA V-C Ram Bahadur said DMRC was continuing the work in Ghaziabad territory and this will pick up speed after the Lok Sabha elections. But the dispute is for completion of DMRC work up to Vaishali before the start of Commonwealth Games. The Metro extension up to Vaishali, including three stations was to be completed before the start of Commonwealth Games, under the terms and conditions of the MoU, the V-C said. |

The state is not getting any power from them presently, he said. “We are facing a demand of about 575 MW from the district and are trying to supply an equivalent amount, provided we get sufficient power from Lucknow. The current crisis is not due to regional factors but due to less generation of power in the state,” Yadav added. According to sources in the UPPCL, apart from some existing ailing units, some more units of Anpara power station have been shut down due to which current power supply in the state is reduced. Ghaziabad is struggling for power with outages lasting for 10 hours in the urban pockets and 18 hours in the semi-urban zones.
