We don’t have Munna Singh’s resignation: BJP
Dehradun, April 4 Playing down the reports of Munna's discontentment with the party, Pant said, "We have only got to know from media reports that Munna has submitted his resignation to the Speaker. As far as his position in party is concerned, he is still in BJP as we have not received his resignation." When asked whether the party is contemplating any action against Munna in wake of his statements, wherein he had repeatedly criticised the party, Pant denied any such move. Speaking to mediapersons at the BJP headquarters here today, Pant said the manifesto of the BJP, released yesterday, has all the elements required
for the progress of the nation and the welfare of the masses. Terming the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh as one of the weakest PM India had ever got, Pant said the UPA government had miserably failed on the economic front. "There have been several terrorist attacks during the UPA regime just because of the soft approach of the Central government," he said, adding that woes of the common man had increased manifold because of the wrong policies of the UPA government. Pant said it was matter of shame that during its five-year rule, the UPA had failed to spend funds amounting to Rs 24,000 crore earmarked for the armed forces. Flaying the UPA for the alleged "misuse" of the power, he said if voted to power the NDA will ensure progress and welfare of all sections of society. |

Come polls, blame game begins
Dehradun, April 4 The Congress leader claimed that the party had concrete information that development works in the home constituency of the CM were hanging fire for the past two years. He also accused Khanduri of misusing the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. “When the home constituency of the CM is in utter neglect, how can we expect any development in rest of the state,” said Naithani, who is also the party’s election incharge for Dhumakot, Lansdowne and Ramnagar segments. Giving a detailed account of the snail’s pace at which development works were progressing ever since Khanduri took over the reins as CM, Naithani, a former Uttarakhand minister, said, “Work on 16 roads in Dhumakot and Lansdowne, sanctioned during the previous Congress regime, is yet to begin. Likewise, work on the Dabar village bridge is incomplete from the past two years, despite the fact that Khanduri has the charge of PWD department.” The Congress leader further alleged that various water pumping projects, including Nainidanda and Dhumakot, were lying in cold storage. “The government is sitting over their detailed project reports due to which people are struggling to get water for even their daily needs,” Naithani alleged, adding that funds sanctioned for the beautification of Nainidanda Temple Lake are also lying unutilised. The Congress leader held Khanduri responsible for the miserable state of education in these areas, and alleged that in Lansdowne-Rikhnikhal-Haldukhal-Dhumakot belt there were no telephone lines. Naithani also accused the BJP MP from Pauri, Lt Gen (Retd) TPS Rawat, of completely ignoring the problems of the constituency. Meanwhile, rubbishing the accusations, BJP leader Davinder Bhasin said, “Congress is well aware of the fact that they are a sinking ship in Uttarakhand and are heading for a shameful defeat. Out of frustration they are levelling false acquisitions.” “Our government is undertaking all development works in a systematic manner,” he added. |
