Accordingly, the next day Hemant, along with Rajesh reached Kuldeep’s house around 4 pm. Unaware of their cruel intentions, Ravinder offered the duo tea and snacks. Daughter held for father’s murder
New Delhi, February 12 According to crime branch officials, Niti Sarin (45) along with her paramour Gulfam Ahmed (28) conspired to kill her father to usurp his property. On the night of May 16, 2006, three men hired by Gulfam entered the house of Surjit Singh with the help of Niti and smothered him by a pillow. Thereafter Niti, Gulfam and others kept the body in a car and dropped it in fields near Sardana in Meerut. A day later, she reported a missing complaint regarding his father who she said had gone to Chandni Chowk in the morning, but had not returned. According to DCP (Crime & Railways) Neeraj Thakur, SI Sukhbir Malik of special operations squad received information in the case a few days back regarding the role of Niti in murdering her father. According to police, Niti after divorce from her husband in 2002 was running a boutique in Lajpat Nagar where she came in contact with Gulfam and developed intimacy with him. She pretended to be a rich woman who could lavishly spend money on Gulfam who too started asking her for money and she came under heavy debt soon. She narrated the position to Gulfam. Both of them conspired to kill Surjit so that his property could be sold to pay the debt. According to Crime Branch, after killing him, Niti and Gulfam contacted one builder Chawla for doing some building job on the property. However, when he found the documents incomplete, he advised them to forge a gift deed in the name of Niti Sarin from her father. When Niti Sarin told him about the murder of her father, he helped her in forging the gift deed. They prepared the papers and started developing the property. Three hired killers have been arrested, Chawla is absconding. |
Jilted man sets himself on fire
New Delhi, February 12 According to sources, Praveen, a chartered accountant aspirant, came outside the house of his girlfriend, Sunita (name changed), around 11 p.m. and asked her to open the door. He wanted to clarify a few things. But when she refused to meet him in spite of his repeated requests, Praveen set himself afire. It was only when people heard his cries that they came to his rescue. Praveen was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital with 80 per cent burn injuries. He was referred to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital today. Doctors maintain that his condition is critical. Meanwhile, Praveen’s parents have told the police that they were not aware about his going to Sunita’s house late in the night. But they said that their son probably escaped from the terrace of the house. They affirmed that the two were in love and had even eloped from the village a few months ago. The Punjab police caught them in Bathinda and brought them here. His parents further added that a panchayat was called and declared them brother and sister. It had ruled that since they were brother and sister, they could not marry. According to the police, even Sunita’s parents were against their daughter marrying a man from their own village. They had convinced her not to see Praveen. “Lately, Sunita had agreed to her parents’ wishes and had started ignoring Praveen. He tried to contact her, but finding people around her all the time chose to meet her in the night. He must have been disappointed when she refused to see him and hence tried to kill himself,” said a police official. Meanwhile, the police is investigating from where did Praveen get kerosene — whether he brought it from his house or somebody from the girl’s house gave him. “It is still a mystery. Praveen is not in the position to give a statement,” added the official. |
