Throwing light on the history of Iranian cinema, he said the first Iranian movie was produced in 1907, 11 years after the invention of cinema in Paris. Iranian film, “Loar Girl” was a super hit film. He also mentioned the contribution of Iranian women directors like Sameera Makhambaaf and Niki Kareem. Even after more than 100 years of cinema, Iranian films still did not involve sex and violence to attract audience. “I never felt like a stranger in India and extremely delighted with the cordial environment, hospitality and warmth. There are many similarities between Iranian and Indian cinema in terms of language and culture. Geographically, the two countries may be far from each other, but people of both the countries have many things in common,” he added. He also announced that the government of Iran would sponsor a special section on Iranian cinema in this festival here next year. The section would be dedicated to some prominent Iranian women directors, filmmakers and actresses. Teachers for differently abled rue poor salaries
Sirsa, December 27 Special educators, who impart vocational training to children suffering from problems like autism, cerebral palsy and multiple disorders, rued that they had been getting abysmally low pay scales in comparison to teachers working in normal schools though their qualifications are at par with teachers working in normal schools. “According to letter number 8-351-DD (1) 07 - RCI dated July 7, 2008, written by the Rehabilitation Council of India
(RCI) to the governments of Punjab and Haryana, there is no difference in BEd, whether it is in general education or in special education. However, there is a lot of difference in salaries in the two categories in Haryana,” said Bijender Kumar, principal of Disha, a vocational training institute for special children here. “While teachers with regular BEd degree are paid Rs 15,000 per month, those with special education degree are being paid a fixed salary of Rs 4,200 only,” he added. He maintained that schemes like EPF and CPF were implemented in all government and private institutions, but no such social security scheme was in force for them. “It was strange that the government provided financial help to physically disabled students studying in normal schools, but did not employ special teachers for them, who in fact are professionally trained for the needs of these children,” Bijender Kumar said. He also alleged that resource teachers were being appointed under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan but they too were not being paid regular pay scales. Teachers for special children recently presented a memorandum to the commissioner and secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment, Haryana, Navraj Sandhu, when she visited Sirsa and sought her intervention in this regard. The teachers maintained that teachers with special training were being paid better salaries in other states and Haryana was the only state where they were being paid poorly. |
