Two killed in mishaps: A 52-year-old person was killed under mysterious circumstances when he fell down from the second floor of his house at Sector 15 here on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Jagdish, a class IV employee of HUDA. According to police, the victim was putting clothes on the line when he suffered the fall. The family took him to the general hospital where he was declared brought dead. Victim’s wife Prem Lata said he had been suffering from depression for some days. Also, a resident of Barwala, near here, died when the ceiling fan fell on him while he was asleep. The deceased has been identified as Ram Singh (51).Mohali
Car stolen: Gurjit Singh, a resident of Phase 3B1 here, told the police that his Pajero car was stolen by unidentified persons from outside his house on Friday morning. He further claimed that a sum of Rs 50,000 was lying in the stolen car.

Re-survey sought: Protesting against the recent survey conducted for the national health insurance scheme in the Balmiki basti, residents submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner demanding re-survey of the basti on Thursday. Leaders of the delegation said the survey was conducted at the Hanuman gate and only 20 families out of 1,300 were included. HISAR
2 booked for theft: The police has registered a theft case against a former municipal councillor and his son for allegedly stealing costly electronic equipment from the office of a local FM radio station. The case was registered on the complaint of an official of the radio station, Sukhbir Singh, on Thursday. He alleged that the duo broke open the locks of the office on July 10 and stole a DJ set, 20 computers, a 40 kW UPS, sound mixer, recorder and a piano besides other items. LLB entrance test: The Kurukshetra University LLB entrance test for the session 2008-09, which was scheduled for July 20 at 10.30 am , has been postponed by four and a half hours. Public relations officer of the university Davinder Sachdeva said according to a notification issued here today the test would now be conducted at 3 pm.

Student commits suicide: Rakesh Kumar (20), a BA (final) student and resident of Jahajgarh Majra village of Jhajjar district, reportedly committed suicide by jumping before a train on the Rewari-Alwar track near Bawal station on Wednesday. The body was handed over to family members after the postmortem examination on Thursday. The Government Railway Police, which held an inquest under Section 174 of the CrPC, disposed of it as a case of suicidal death. Petrol station looted: Four armed miscreants reportedly looted Rs 11,500 and a motorcycle from a petrol station, Ganga Filling Station, near Kund, on Friday. The police immediately blocked all exit points and nabbed two of the miscreants identified as Rajender and Rakesh of Patheda village of Mahendergarh district. However, two other miscreants, Narender and Sonu, managed to escape with the booty. The police also seized the stolen motorcycle from the place. 2 killed in mishaps: Two persons were killed, while 18 others, including six children, seriously injured in three road accidents here on Thursday. Ravinder (32) was killed when a truck hit the motorcycle he was driving near Shadipur Chungi, while another motorcyclist Omkar (36) was killed when an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle on the Jagadhari road.

Training for women: The Horticulture Department organised a day-long training-cum-awareness camp at Bandipora to educate women on food technology and fruit preservation. The chief horticulture officer, Bandipora, said Rs 4.86 lakh is being spent on the development of horticulture in the district. Thirty-seven hectares of land will be brought under new fruit plantation. 18,000 units to
be set up: Over 18,000 income generating units would be set up in Srinagar under current year's credit action plan. Out of these 8110 units would be under priority sector and 10,000 under non-priority sector. These units would be provided loan worth Rs 557.94 crore. This was revealed at a District Level Consultative Committee (DLCC) meeting held under Lead Bank Scheme here yesterday. The priority sector units would be given loan worth Rs 158 crore.
