Refused, cop opens fire at dancer

A Punjab Police constable, Sukhwinder Singh, allegedly molested a dancer of the Love Orchestra group in a marriage function at Malhotra Palace last night for refusing to dance with him.

In a bid to set the process of strengthening the public sector banks in motion and to prepare against a systematic onslaught, the Punjab Bank Employees Federation (PBEF), affiliated to the All-India Bank Employees Association, has launched a nationwide campaign which would culminate with observing "Save Public Sector Banks Day" tomorrow and a day-long strike on August 20.

One booked for trespass
Jagraon, July 18
Ravinder Singh of Cheema entered into the house of Manprit Singh of the same village on July 16 and assaulted him with iron pipe and sharp-edged weapon. Manprit was admitted to the local civil hospital. The local police has registered a case under sections 452, 323, 324 and 506 of the IPC. Old court case is stated to be the reason behind the assault.

Chandigarh recorded a two-wicket win against Jalandhar today on the fourth day of the Punjab State Inter-District Twenty20 Cricket Tournament (u-16) for the Shaheed Udham Singh Trophy being played simultaneously at the Government Institute of Textile and Knitting, Rishi Nagar, and BCM Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, here. With this victory, Chandigarh made it to the semifinal.
