HJC campaign from today: The Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC-BL) will start a ‘janjagaran’ campaign in the state from July 1 in order to “expose the anti-people policies” of the government and to strengthen the party organisation. Man drowned in canal: Arshid Khan (18) from Mewat district, who worked as an assistant on a JCB machine at a mixer plant at Jatwara village, near Kosli, reportedly drowned when he along with his co-workers were taking a bath at the JLN Canal near the village on Sunday. Sources said Khan accidentally slipped into deep waters while bathing. Later, the police fished out his body with the help of divers and handed it over to the family members after the post-mortem, which was conducted at the civil hospital here. SIRSA
Blood donation camp: The Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee, Haryana, organised a blood donation camp dedicated to Bhai Kanhaya at village Mangeana, in Kalawali sub-division, here on Monday. Sukhwinder Singh Khalsa, president of the committee, said many villagers participated in the camp. Deputy commissioner V. Umashankar inaugurated the camp. One commits suicide: Satbir (32) of Fatehpuriya Niyamat Khan village committed suicide at his fields on Sunday. He was found hanging from a branch of a tree. The police is investigating the matter.

Credit plan for Bilaspur: A Rs 210.6-crore credit plan has been finalised for Bilaspur district. Out of the said amount, 10.4 per cent has been allocated for agriculture, 2.2 per cent for small industries, 19.7 per cent for priority sectors and 18.8 per cent for non-priority sectors. This information was given by DC Hansraj Chauhan while presiding over a meeting of the district advisory and coordination committee on Sunday. The DC said 15,230 Kisan Credit Cards had been distributed in the district by various banks and more than Rs 51.76 crore disbursed as loan. Till now, 1,895 women self-help groups had tied up with banks, he added. Regional manager, UCO Bank, P.K. Agarawal also spoke on the occasion. Meeting was also attended by assistant commissioner Rakesh Kapoor, Indian Reserve Bank assistant general manager Kalidass, NABRD’s deputy divisional manager R.L. 2 get life term for murder: Additional Sessions Judge, Shimla, Rajan Gupta has sentenced Raju and Bhim Bhadur to life imprisonment in a case of murder. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on both. The accused were chargesheeted by the police for the murder of Desraj, who ran a shop at Shadi Thach village. The accused murdered Desraj while he was on his way to his home. They had taken away some cash and a mobile phone of
Desraj. 10-yr RI for possessing charas: B.R.Chandel, district and sessions judge has sentenced Joban Dass and Khumb Dass of Uttarankhan to 10-year rigorous imprisonment for possessing charas. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on each accused. The accused were arrested by the police on October 22, 2007, near Gumma with 4 kg of charas. SOLAN
Robbery at New Nalagarh: An amount of Rs 2.3 lakh was looted by three masked robbers from the office of Aradhna Wine Company at New Nalagarh around 2.30 am on Monday. The armed robbers reportedly broke open the door and beat up assistant manager Randeep Singh and cook Harichand. Then they searched the premises and decamped with the cash. A case has been registered. Youth killed in accident: Jatin Mukheja (23), an IT executive employed with Infosys at Chandigarh, was killed in an accident near Datiyaar on the Kalka-Shimla highway on Monday. Deepak Chowdhary was driving a motorcycle (HR-70-9726), while Jatin was riding pillion. The mishap occurred after the handle of the bike hit a Canter (HP-63-0663). Jatin fell on the road. The driver of a truck (HP-63-2173) failed to notice Jatin and the vehicle dragged him for almost 20 yards. He was killed on the spot and the body badly mutilated. Deepak, who also sustained grievous injuries, was shifted to Fortis, Mohali, after preliminary treatment at the ESI hospital, Parwanoo. A case has been registered against Deepak and truck driver Tirlok Singh on a complaint by Madan Lal, who was driving the Canter. The truck has been impounded and the driver, who hails from Chirgaon area of Shimla district, arrested. The deceased hailed from the Pitampura area of Delhi, while Deepak belonged to Rohini (Delhi).
