Open letter released
Sirsa, July 12 “The Dera always gives honour and respect to all Sikh Gurus. It never came to our mind to imitate Guru Gobind Singh. We have apologised to Guru Gobind Singh and Guru Garanth Sahib three times but these letters had been rejected by the Sikh high priests”, the dera added while breaking silence over the ongoing conflict. In the two-page letter, the dera has raised 12 questions seeking their answers. The dera apologised to Guru Gobind Singh thrice in the interest of humanity but it was rejected. The dera further stated that the order of Sri Akal Takht was supreme for the Sikhs. Though it gave an order not to hold a meeting on July 11 at Ratia, yet a ‘meeting’ took place there on the same date. However, the fact is that despite postponement, some Sikhs did come to Ratia, yet as such there was no meeting and they returned, after partaking langar. |

He said he had called for a report on cases registered against some traders of Hansi during the tenure of previous government. A decision to withdraw these cases would be taken after examining the report. Hooda said stern action would be taken against erring officers. Fatehabad, July 12 The doctor, however, has denied any negligence on her part. Gurmeet Kaur, a resident of Langdoi village in Patiala district was operated upon for removal of uterus on Monday. However, her condition started deteriorating and she died in the evening. The kin of the victim came to the hospital in large numbers yesterday and created a commotion in the hospital. Accusing the doctor of negligence, they demanded action against her. They were holding angry demonstration in the hospital with the body of the woman. Dr Asha Bhutani, who performed the surgery, denied the charges of negligence and maintained that the victim had very low level of haemoglobin, a fact that was concealed by her kin before surgery. When asked for her version, she said the patient's kin showed her medical reports, which showed that patient's haemoglobin (Hb) was nine. But when she got Gurmeet's blood tested after her pulse and blood pressure started falling low, the Hb came out to be four only. Surender rubbishes MP’s remarks
Sonepat, July 12 In a press note issued here today, he pointed out when women empowerment was one of the top priorities in the country and world, any opposition to the opening of a women’s university was a clear example of feudal thinking of INLD leaders towards upliftment of women. Similarly, their opposition to the opening of Science and Technology University and also to setting up of Rajiv Gandhi Education City was politically motivated with selfish interests, he said, and alleged that DCR Engineering College, Murthal which had been upgraded to Science and Technology University by the Hooda government was being planned to privatise during the regime of Om Prakash Chautala. However, this move could not succeed due to the stiff opposition from the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college as well as villagers. He claimed that the opening of these three centres of higher learning will bring a revolutionary change in the social, economical and educational fields in the state in future. |

Police to re-examine flashlights used by mall
Karnal, July 12 Fearing disastrous accidents due to the glaring lights on one of the busiest roads of the country, the store management has come under scanner for using high-power lights in an irresponsible manner. The airstrip at Kunjpura, near here, is used by VIPs and the officials admit that such lights should not be allowed near the sensitive points. Meanwhile, last night the district police examined the laser beams used by the store in question. But it was later decided to re-examine them on a cloudy evening to find the similarity, if any with the lights that appeared in the Karnal skies on Sunday night. To rule out any irrational conclusions, the deputy commissioner ordered a police inquiry to end the anxiety of the residents. Though the store management maintained using the laser beams, nothing had been concluded as yet, district police chief A.S. Chawala told TNS. President of the local municipal council Balwinder Kalra had reportedly spotted the flashlights on Monday late night from the store’s premises. None of the store officials were available for comments. Flashlights were apparently used by the store to attract the passersby, he alleged. The shopping mall was inaugurated on Sunday. |
