Names of Rana’s sons removed from FIRs
Kapurthala, February 22 While a former SAD minister Raghubir Singh alleged that the names had been removed from the FIRs at Rana’s behest, SSP Rajiv Ahir claimed that the investigating officers could not gather a proof of the presence of Rana’s sons at the places of crime. Rana Inder Pratap and Rana’s nephew Lovely were booked under Sections 307, 188, 171B, 427, 148 and 149 of the IPC at Sadar police station. According to the complainant, Dalwinder Singh Sidhu, general council member of the SAD, they attacked and fired at him in village Sidhwan Dona on the night of February 12. Interestingly ,the district police has not only removed Rana Inder Pratap’s name from this FIR but also excluded Section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder) from the FIR. The complainant Sidhu had alleged that the accused along with 15 accomplices had come to the village Sidhwan Dona for distributing money among electors. When opposed, they went to Dalwinder’s house and fired at him. The SSP said it could not be established during investigation by DSP (Kapurthala) that the accused had fired any shot. Similarly the district police also removed the name of Rana’s another son Veer Pratap Singh from the FIR lodged at City police station on the complaint of BSP (Ambedkar) supporters. The FIR under different sections of IPC had been lodged at City police station against Veer Pratap Singh and others including the chairman of Improvement Trust Kulwant Bhandari for allegedly attacking BSP (A) candidate Jiya Lal Nahar and his supporters on the eve of polling day. SSP said that Veer Pratap Singh’s name had been removed from the FIR after investigation of the case of SHO of City police station. Meanwhile no change was made in the FIR lodged at Sadar police station against Rana’s nephew Lovely and eight unknown persons for allegedly issuing threats to SAD supporters. The FIR under section 506 and 188 IPC and 24/54/59 of Arms Act had been lodged against them on the complaint of SAD senior vice president of Kapurthala circle, Mr. Gurmail Singh. |
