BIS recognition for SJVN: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has given ISO 14001 recognition to Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) for its environment management practices in the 1500 MW Nathpa-Jhakri Hydro Power project.

Villagers to get compensation: J. P Cement has decided to compensate residents of Bhalag village for their loss due to dumping of debris from their construction sites into the village nullah, resulting in the flooded nullah washing away standing crops and damaging flour mills. The damaged primary school building will also be relocated, SDM, Rohit Zambal, said on Tuesday.

Worker killed: A factory worker employed with Rama Steel unit at Barotiwala, was seriously injured on Tuesday due to metal roof of the factory falling on him. He succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital. The police sent the body for a post mortem. Further investigations are being conducted under Section 174 of the Cr.P.C.
