The 33rd anniversary function of Guru National College, Doraha, was organised with great zeal and enthusiasm at Dr Ishwar Singh Memorial Hall today.
Mr Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgarhia Educational Council, who was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony, congratulating the freshers exhorted them to work hard to carve a niche for themselves in every sphere of life. Narrating his own success story, he said: “It was by sheer dint of single-minded devotion and dedicated efforts that I have been able to achieve the target I fixed for myself. A person should bear a character that should enable him to stand steadfastly in every sphere of his life”. He advised the students to keep in close touch with nature as it had a lot of lesson to teach.
Ms Harmeet Kaur, Principal, Ramgarhia College, who was the guest of honour, appreciated the efforts made by the management, principal, staff and students of the college for its progress. Addressing students, she asked them to grab every opportunity that comes their way to gain
success. She said: “It is with courage, positive approach and strong will power, that a person can achieve his target. As opportunity knocks our door only once, no stone should be left unturned. She also stressed the need for participation in co-curricular and sports activities for the all-round personality development.
Ms Roop Brar, president managing committee, Doraha, also welcomed new students and asked them to work hard. She welcomed the guests and thanked them for enlightening the students.
Dr Narinder Singh Sidhu, Principal of the college, asked students to work hard to achieve success. He also made the students aware of various rules and regulations to be followed during the course of the session. He exhorted them to engage themselves in every activity of the college in a disciplined manner. He also elaborated upon the achievements of the college.
Mr Jaswant Singh Gill, Director of the college, welcomed the guests. The vote of thanks was extended by Prof Balwant Singh Pangali, general secretary of college management. A Cultural programme marked the occasion. Dr Charandeep Singh, a lecturer of the college, presented his poem entitled ‘Baal naath”.
Meritorious students of the session were awarded by the guest of the occasion.
