Shift Kashir Channel to Srinagar: artistes
Srinagar, April 21 Talking to mediapersons here yesterday, members of the Kashmiri Freelance Producers, Directors, Music Directors, Cinematographers and Writers Association alleged that the creative teams, having about three decades’ experience, were being ignored by the authorities in Delhi. “By neglecting the creative personalities of Kashmir, it has created resentment among us as the requisite consent letters of Kashmiri creative teams are not accepted”, said members. They included artistes, Zameer Ashai and Tariq Javed, Bashir Dada (writer), Waheed Jeelani (music director), and others. They alleged that the Kashmiri writers had no place in Kashir Channel. Referring to the submission of various creative teams to produce different programems for the Kashir Channel of the Doordarshan, the members lamented that preference had been given to the award winners from outside the state. Those from Kashmir without any awards were instead ignored, they held adding that no government or semi-government organisation had organised any such award-winning function so far. The members stated that the experienced writers and artistes had been ignored in the commissioning, while the producers based in Mumbai, having left Kashmir over three decades ago, had been accommodated. They added that all empaneled producers, who had submitted their programmes under the recent schemes, could have been accommodated. Making an earnest appeal to the Centre to consider the shifting of the Kashir Channel to Srinagar, the artistes alleged that the authorities at Srinagar Doordarshan remained as silent spectators. It was over this station that these artistes worked and produced programmes since it started in the 1970s. The Kashir Channel was launched here on June 9, 2000, and has been functioning from Delhi. |
