In what seems to have been the result of a major confusion at the level of paper setters, candidates appearing for some of Punjab University examinations were finding the question papers had not been set in accordance with the style rules laid down by the university.
Scouts in city for camp

At least 300 scouts and escorts from Kendriya Vidyalayas in Delhi, Dehra Dun, Jaipur and Jammu regions have reached the city to participate in the five-day camp being conducted at grounds of Kendriya Vidyalayas here for the Rashtrapati Scout Award.

Over 7,600 students fill in forms
Chandigarh, April 21
Over 7,600 students have filled in the application forms for the Other Common Entrance Test 2006
(OCET) to be held by the Panjab University for admission to various postgraduate science courses. The last date for receiving these applications was today.

When young minds think green
Chandigarh, April 21
Sampooran is a class VI student of St John’s High School. His obsession is to plant saplings to increase the green cover. Akshit, Shaurya, Ishpreet, Bharat, Angadh and others are also concerned about the deteriorating flora and fauna and increasing pollution. They all believe that this is the time to go green.

Teacher absent, holiday in school
Karoran Kalan ( Sas Nagar), April 21
It was an undeclared holiday for students of Government Elementary School here.
The 40-odd students did turn up for their classes, however, no teacher came. No one could have come either because no teacher was assigned the duty. As a result, the students found the school closed.

Drill on disaster control
Panchkula, April 21
The students of DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 8, today carried out a mock drill on disaster control.
During the drill, students were taught "don't panic, stay calm"— the golden rule to be followed in difficult situations.

(CSIR) and University Grants Commission (UGC) test for the JRF and NET held on December 18, 2005, was declared today.
A clarification
Speedy disposal of cases at Lok Adalat
Chandigarh, April 21
A Lok Adalat was held at the Chandigarh Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum here today.
Aimed at fast disposal of cases, it is held on every Friday. In the past seven months, 150 cases have been disposed off by way of settlement.
Bhandari reinstated as P’kula MC chief
Chandigarh, April 21
The Punjab and Haryana High Court today reinstated the recently-removed president of the Panchkula Municipal Council, Mr Tarun Bhandari.
Allowing the petition filed by Mr Bhandari, challenging his removal from the post on the basis of a controversial vote of no-confidence, the Division Bench headed by the Acting Chief Justice, Mr Justice H.S. Bedi held that the meeting held on February 15, where the members voted out Mr Bhandari, could not have been held as per the law as six months had not elapsed since the last meeting.
