Rapid response team formed
Mohali, February 25 Dr Yash Pal Singla, Civil Surgeon, Ropar, said here today that Dr H.N. Sharma had been made the nodal officer. Four specialists - chest, medicine, pathologist and paediatrics — had been made members of the Rapid response team which would work under the guidance of the SMO in charge of the Ropar Civil Hospital. Dr Singla appealed to the public not to panic as no case had so far been traced in this area. He said if the department got a complaint in this regard, the sample would be send to the Institute of Communicable Diseases, Delhi. He said free treatment would be given to persons suspected to be suffering from the communicable disease. He said the medical staff too had been directed to take precautions while handling suspected cases. The Central Government had been asked to provide the necessary safety kits to members of the
staff. |
Inquiry sought against doctor

Tribune team enters cricket semifinals
Chandigarh, February 25 The Chandigarh Press Club was the other team, which made it to the semi-finals after thrashing Dainik Jagran by five wickets. Earlier, in the first match the Press Club team put Jagran to bat first after winning the toss. Surinder Baijee (3 wickets for 23 runs) and Tripathi (3 wickets for 12 runs) put up good bowling display by restricting Jagran to just 94 runs in 16.5 overs. Naresh was the top scorer for Dainik Jagran and remained unbeaten at 26 while Sukhwinder made a valiant 22. In reply, Press Club’s openers Vikrant (15) and Rohit (14) gave a good start. But immediately the club lost five quick wickets for 57 runs. The unbeaten knock of 20 off 17 balls by Akash Ghai steered the team to victory. Parbhat was the only successful bowler for Dainik Jagran and took 3 wickets for 20 runs in his 4 overs. Akash Ghai of Press Club was declared man of the match. In the second match of the day The Tribune team won the toss and decided to field first. Some good batting by Sanjeev (26) and Rajinder (14) helped Bhaskar to put on 103 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Tribune skipper Anjeev Jaiswal (3 wickets for 31) and Dheeraj (2 wickets for 9) proved instrumental to wrap up the rivals on meager total of 103. Chasing the target, Tribune lost their three wickets immediately. But the 44-run partnership between Gagan (45 n o) and Navtej Singh (13) provided support to bring off three-wicket victory in 19.1 overs for the team. Dainik Bhaskar’s Pawan stood out with his accurate bowling and took 4 wickets for 16 runs. The man of the match was given to Gagan. PU softball team overall winner
Chandigarh, February 25 All three teams — Panjab University, Delhi University and Kurukshetra University — won two ties each but the judgement was made on the basis of more number of runs made per innings. PU team slug out Delhi University team 12-02 .The main contributors for the winners were Monika 3, Sarita Neena and Nidhi two each and Lata, Neha and Manjeet one each. Vinita and Renu were the scorers for the losers with one run each. Delhi University came second while Kurukshetra University had to content with the third place. Earlier, Delhi University in a one-sided affair defeated Kurukshtra University team 15-0. The main scorers for the winners’ side were Vineeta and Renu three runs each, Sashi and Jyoti two runs each and Pooja, Sonia, Mamta, Shilpi and Rani one run each. |
Fun, frolic mark sports day
Chandigarh, February 25 The event began with a synchronised march past with platoons of students taking the salute from the Chief Guest Mr H.K Dua, Editor-in-Chief, The Tribune. This was followed by drill displays modeled imaginatively on the themes of harmony, national integration and unity in diversity. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Dua appreciated the school’s efforts in providing the right mix of traditional learning and global education where life skills scored over other academic considerations. |

Mohali, February 25 A skating competition was held on the school premises, the skating trainer, Mr Sarabjit Singh, has been coaching the students of Nursery, LKG and
UKG. The children of play class presented a drill. Mr Jaswinder Singh, Branch Manager of IDBI Bank, Phase 3B-2, Mohali graced the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the staff members at the School. The Principal, Ms Anu Mahajan, emphasised the importance of sports .She said it was an integral part of the curriculum for the physical development of children. The director of the school presented certificates to the children. The prizes were sponsored by IDBI Bank. Mr Ashish Chaudhary, Sales Manager, Chandigarh, was also present on the occasion. |
