Lalru health centre cries for upgradation
Lalru, December 24 This is despite the fact that the mini PHC, named after the legendary freedom fighter of the area, Baba Prithvi Singh Azad, has a spacious building which could easily accommodate a civil hospital or atleast a full-fledged PHC. Though strategically located on the Chandigarh-Ambala
highway, the upgradation of the mini PHC had been hanging fire for at least a decade with the residents petitioning the authorities concerned several times. The lack of medical and para-medical staff only added to the woes of the residents of around 60 surrounding villages. In the absence of the civil hospital, the residents of the area are forced to fend for themselves as currently there is no hospital between Ambala and Derabassi a distance of about 25
km. The repeated representations to the officials and politicians of the area had failed to elicit any positive response, alleges Rana Jasmer Singh, a former chairman of the local Market Committee. The accident victims on the highway, which has become an accident prone area, are forced to fend for themselves. In fact, a precious life was lost today itself when a Senior Manager of Glaxo, Naresh Chander Malik, lost his life near here after his car was hit by a truck. Demanding the upgradation of the mini PHC, the residents claimed that it was all more needed since the township was emerging as a major residential and commercial hub. |
