Student blames teacher for injuries
Jupinderjit Singh
Tribune News Service

Ludhiana, November 25
Mystery shrouds the injuries suffered by a Class Five student of Ewing Public School who alleged he had suffered ligament rapture on his arms and legs besides bruises on other parts of the body after being thrashed by a class teacher yesterday.

The school management has, however, termed the allegations as false and motivated.

The case came to light today when the alleged victim, Sagar Nasrani, admitted in the CMC hospital last evening, told his parents that he had suffered injuries because of the beating by a woman teacher, Ms Dimple.

His father, Mr Samuel Nasrani, said his son was a victim of corporal punishment, “The woman teacher had beaten my son so badly that he suffered such injuries,” he alleged, adding that the school management also were not believing the boy’s statement.

Mr Nasrani said his son had told him that he was sitting in the front row of the class while the teacher had told him to sit in the back row. The teacher allegedly got so upset that she slapped him and continued beating him even after he fell on the ground.

Later, after the school hours, the boy reached home and complained of pain. He had to be shifted to the CMC hospital where doctors conducted tests to determine if there was a fractured bone under the swollen part of the arm and the right leg.

While the boy’s parents demanded immediate and strict action against the ‘guilty’ teacher, the school management termed the accusations as false.

The school Vice-Principal, Mr Samuel, said the alleged victim might have suffered injuries while playing football after the school or during the recess time.

He said if the boy’s injuries were inflicted during school time, he could not have sat through the four periods thereafter.

He said he had visited the hospital to inquire about his health but no complaint was made to him.

Mr Samuel said he conducted an investigation today in which other students of the class and an eye-witness teacher had stated that Ms Dimple only slapped the boy once.

According to Mr Samuel, when Ms Dimple entered the class she saw Sagar Nasrani beating other students. Her arrival also did not relent Sagar. Then, Ms Dimple slapped him.

Later, Sagar was seen playing football in the recess and also after school hours. Some students also reported that Sagar had fallen from the swings in the school play ground.
