Convincing wins for CFA, St Stephen’s
Chandigarh, November 25 St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, thrashed Shivalik Public School, Sector 45, 8-0. The highlight of the match was a brilliant double hat trick by Vikas who scored six goals. CFA and Stephen’s have won both their league matches they have played so far and are comfortably place. The clash between the two will take place tomorrow at 10 am. The 5th State Youth Festival will be organised by the Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration, on November 29 and 30 at Skating Rink, Sector 10. The winners and runners-up of individual and team events will be given cash prizes. According to Joint Director, Sports Department, J.P.S. Sidhu, the winner of each event will represent Chandigarh youth team in the forthcoming 11th National Youth Festival to be held from January 12 to 16, 2006. Entries close with K.S. The Choi Kwang Do Martial Art International (India) will hold a three-day second national training camp beginning December 2 at Skating Rink, Sector 10. The camp will be held under the supervision of degree four black belt (USA) Bikram Thapa, chief instructor and international examiner. Some of the students will take black belt test as well. The camp is expected to be attended by over 200 participants from all over the country. Carrom meet
The 7th Raj Kumar Babuta Memorial Prize Money Ranking Carrom Tournament will be organised by the Chandigarh Carrom Association at the St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, from December 3 and 4. Events in men and women’s categories will be held. The entries close on November 28. Athletics meet
Virendra Singh (BA final year) was awarded best athlete trophy in the 53rd Annual Athletics Meet of Government College, Sector 11, today. Tug-of-war was the main attraction today. DPI Colleges, UT, Raji P. Srivastava was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Jatinder Verma (BPEd IInd year) was declared most outstanding player of the meet. |

Chandigarh, November 25 Besides various events, tug-of-war was also organised in which former students of the school competed with the students of Class X. Teachers also took part in a Tug-of-War which was especially held for them. The day commenced with the unfurling of the school flag by the chief guest, Mr Krit Serai, Principal, Satluj Public School, Panchkula. This was followed by a march past by the contingents of the four Houses. Around 450 medals and prizes were awarded to the winners of the various events held today and those held during inter-house games earlier. Paramvir Singh, Class IX-C and Habby Rajput Class IX-C, were declared the best boy athlete and the best girl athlete, respectively. Addressing the students, the Vice-Principal of the school, Ms Annie Charles, stressed the importance of sports in life. |
