Son plays cop, finds his father’s killers
Chandigarh, November 18
It was nothing but a son’s grit that led to the arrest of his missing father’s alleged killers. Though the police had been ignoring his complaint, he located the killers and informed the police. It ultimately lead to the arrest of one of the killers and recovery of his father’s body from a drain flowing through Raipur Kalan village this morning.

Plea dismissed against HUDA housing scheme
Panchkula, November 18
The dismissal of the plea by the Supreme Court today has come as a reprieve for the over 33,000 applicants who have invested crores of rupees with HUDA under the Sectors 2 and 6 Mansa Devi Complex housing scheme. This has also set the ball rolling for the draw of lots.

MC to get all roads recarpeted

The Municipal Council today resolved to get all the roads in the town recarpeted repaired from the Engineering Wing of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), on contract basis.

The Chandigarh Administration has undertaken an ambitious project to develop Khuda Lahora as a sought after destination for rural tourism. A formal announcement was made at Khuda lahora village today which was accompanied by the release of the blueprint on tourism promotion prepared by the Institute of Tourism and Future Management(ITFT).

Blue bull strays on city roads
Chandigarh, November 18

A blue bull had a misadventure on city roads after being chased by the public, police and Forest Department officials here today. The bull had strayed into inhabited area from the adjoining forests. At around 10 am, it was spotted grazing grass adjoining a petrol station in Sector 21. Calls were made to the police and the Forest Department. The police descended on the spot and attempts were made to round up the animal in a circle.

Engineers observe 225th Corps Day
Chandigarh, November 18
The Corps of Engineers observed its 225th Corps Day today. A wreath was laid at the Veer Smriti memorial in Chandimandir by the Chief of Staff, Western Command, Lieut-Gen P.K. Grover, to mark the occasion. This was followed by an address to all engineer officers and men by the Chief Engineer Western Command, Major-Gen A.K. Bedi.

Tata Safari stolen from Mohali
Mohali, November 18
A Tata Safari was stolen from a house in Phase X while five LPG cylinders were stolen from Sector 70 here last night. According to the information available, Mr Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Phase X, complained to the police that his vehicle got stolen when the family had gone out of station. He had parked it in his house but found it missing when he came back today.

Rs 1.50 lakh snatched
Panchkula, November 18
Unknown miscreants today snatched away Rs 1.50 lakh from patwari in Barwala circle, while he was on his way to distribute the money as old age, widow and handicapped pension.

Old man dies in mishap
Chandigarh, November 18
A 72-year-old man was killed after being hit by a motorcyclist while crossing the Old Ropar road in Mani Majra this afternoon. According to the police, Karam of Phase I, Industrial Area, was crossing the road when the accident took place.

Fest for UGC-NET aspirants
Chandigarh, November 18
The Aryans Educational and Charitable Trust organised a UGC-NET fest at the Gandhi Samarak Bhavan in Sector 16 here today. More than 400 students participated in the fest. An exhibition of books for this examination was the main attraction of the fest.

GGSC eves win PU relay races
