Youth festival
: A three-day zonal youth festival for B. Ed colleges of Guru Nanak Dev University will be held at the Lovely Institute of Education from November 12. Mr Partap Singh Bajwa, Cabinet minister, would inaugurate the festival at Phagwara while Mr Kawaljeet Singh Lali, MLA, would preside over on the concluding day.

Seminar: As many as four research papers were read in a seminar jointly organised by the United Sikhs in collaboration with Khalsa College here on Wednesday. Mr Damanjit Singh, Mr Kanwaljit Singh, Mr Amandeep Singh and Manjinder Singh read the papers on different topics. Dr Harminder Singh Bedi, Professor of Hindi from Guru Nanak Dev University was the chief guest.

Student attends seminar in USA: Parshotam Sharma, a Ph.D student of Guru Nanak Dev University attended the International Union of Radio Science Conference on Climate Modelling and Diffraction Modelling held recently in Cleveland, Ohio (USA). The conference was sponsored by the Glenn Research Centre, NASA (USA). Parshotam represented India among the eminent scientists who participated from over 45 countries.

Literacy day celebrated: The National Legal Literacy Day was celebrated at DAV Public School here on Wednesday. Mr Gurdev Singh, District and Sessions Judge, inaugurated the programme that was organised by the National Legal Services Authority. 

Hoshiarpur
Protest held
: Numerous activists of the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha of the district, including its district president Praveen Thakur, general secretary Amit Sajan and vice-president Hoshiar Singh, staged a demonstration and raised slogans against the UPA government for allegedly protecting its tainted minister at local Clock Tower on Wednesday. Various BJP leaders, Mr Vijay Aggarwal, Mr Jagdish Saini, addressed the gathering.

Free medical camp
: Manav Homoeopathic Clinic here organised a free medical camp in the memory of Mata Udham Kaur Bains. As many as 450 persons were examined by Dr Gurbir Singh Dhillon and Dr Manav Preet Kaur. Free medicines were given to the needy patients.
