Ranjit Singh’s throne
: The state government will send a proposal to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for bringing back the throne of Maharaja Ranjit Singh from England. This was disclosed by Mr Partap Singh Bajwa, Minister for Public Works Department (PWD), speaking on a seminar organised by the Maharaja Duleep Singh Centenary Trust, the UK, in association with the Akal Akhara International at Khalsa College here on Thursday.

Arrest sought
: About 150 farmers, led by Mr Joginder Singh Ugrahan, state president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan), today held a rally in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner here, demanding arrest of the killers of two persons, Mithoo Singh and Jarnail Singh Ballran, who were shot dead during a clash between two groups of the Lehragaga Truck Union on September 20. 

Career guidance: A career guidance conference-cum-exhibition was organised by the Sunam Rotary Club, in collaboration with the District Employment Office and the District Education Office at Sunam, 13 km from here, yesterday. The conference was organised to develop awareness among school students about various courses, training facilities and job opportunities in different sectors. Dr Harbans Pathak, District Rotary Governor, inaugurated the exhibition.
