BARNALA
Three arrested
: Three gamblers have been arrested during a drive against anti-social elements in the region. Mr G. Nageshwara Rao, SSP, said here on Monday that the Tapa police conducted a surprise raid in Tapa town and arrested Tarsem Singh, Prem Kumar, and Mahinder Singh and seized Rs 850 from them. The police has registered cases.

HOSHIARPUR
Case registered
: On the complaint of Tehsildar, Dasuya, the police has registered a case against Veer Singh of Nek-Nama, Sham Lal of Datarpur and an unidentified woman for producing fake documents in the name of Kala Devi. 

PHILLAUR
Abducted boy found
: A 12-year-old boy, Gurtoj Singh, was allegedly abducted by an unidentified motorcyclist on Saturday from Tehing village near Phillaur, was found near Phillaur bus stand on Sunday. Ms Ranjit Kaur, grandmother of Gurjot, said he was playing outside his house when an unidentified motorcyclist came and asked him that his father, who was working in the fields, was calling him. The boy sat on his motor cycle and the kidnapper abducted him. No arrest has been so for.

Campaign
: The Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) in collaboration with nearly 20 NGOs has launched an awareness drive in various blocks of the district. Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, Ms Mohini Kak, district co-ordinator, PRIA, said they would organise a poster campaign and street plays to spread awareness about the election process.

Voters’ list: The voters’ list for the forthcoming elections of the Municipal Corporation and panchayats in the district have been prepared and copies of the voters’ list will be available for inspection at the office of the Subdivisional Magistrate, offices of the tehsils at Shahpur and Dharamsala and at the office of the Naib Tehsildar in Harchakian. The Electoral Registration Officer, Mr Rakesh Sharma, said objection, if any, would be entertained by November 19.

KANGRA
Resentment
: Unemployed diploma engineers have expressed resentment for ignoring them for the past 20-year for their appointment in government departments and power projects in the state. Mr A. B. Rajbansh, chief coordinator, Himachal Pradesh Unemployed Diploma Engineers Association, here on Saturday criticised both Virbhadra Singh and previous governments for their unbecoming attitude towards the diploma engineers.According to HPSEB record, the diploma engineers of mechanical trade of 1979 batch are waiting for job in the board, he claimed.

SHIMLA
Book released
: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh released a book “Babudom Bosh” a satire on bureaucracy authored by eminent writer and former bureaucrat Sriniwas Joshi, here on Sunday. The CM said writing a satirical form of essays and stories was an art and Mr Joshi had proved equal to the task.

FM Radio: As many as four FM Radio Broadcasting Stations will be established in private sector in the state. This was stated by Dr Ashok Jairath, Station Director, All-India Radio, here on Friday. He said interested parties would be required to furnish annual report and audited final accounts for the past three years. In the case of newly incorporated company, balance sheet from the date of incorporation till March 31, 2005, along with its net worth as on September 30, 2005, will have to be submitted.
