Murder of Beant Singh’s kin; nine members of gang held

A family friend-turned-foe was responsible for the murder and a robbery of lakh of rupees in Jaswant Kaur's house in Thrike village on October 13. She was a relative of former Chief Minister Beant Singh.

Sufficient kerosene, claim depot holders

The Federation of Punjab Ration Depot Holders has claimed that the availability of kerosene in the city was satisfactory and there was no shortage of fuel for the ration card holders. It has, however, urged the government to enhance the entitlement of SC and BC ration card holders from the present three litres kerosene per month to five time litres.

Funds for sewerage system in Amloh

Under the development programmes of the urban areas, the Punjab Government will provide 80 per cent funds to the A and B class municipal councils and 90 per cent funds will be allotted to “C” class in the state, said Mr Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Parliamentary Secretary (Home, Justice and PWD).

Students decorate diyas at contest

Competitions in making greeting cards and decoration of diyas were held at Baba Isher Singh (N) Senior Secondary School here today. . These were classified in three different groups: IV and V Class, VI and VII Class IX and XI Class Students of these classes displayed their skill by making beautiful greeting cards and decorating diyas in different colours and designs.

Stress laid on reading habits

Book week was celebrated at Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School with fervour and enthusiasm. Various activities were organised to enhance the literary skills of the students.
