Valaya keen to work with Ludhiana industry

Rail barrier set up
Ludhiana, July 2
The Northern Railways has finally installed a railway barrier at the crossing near Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar. Three persons lost their lives in a train-car collision on Saturday last.
The railway barrier at the 16-foot wide road connecting Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar and Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar became functional on Monday evening.

The newly-nominated President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Mr Shamsher Singh Dullo, today said that the Congress government in Punjab, headed by the Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, was committed towards the welfare of all sections of society and all-round development in the state.

Sarabha Nagar roads bad
Ludhiana, August 2

More than a year after roads were dug to lay sewer line in Sarabha Nagar, these are yet to be recarpeted even as rains have compounded the problem. After heavy rains in the city yesterday, the uncarpeted roads caved in, causing problems for commuters. The residents had to put up signboards on the roads to warn commuters.

Guru Nanak’s b’day to be celebrated as tourism day

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Punjab has thanked UNESCO for conferring the Asia Pacific Heritage Award to the historical gurdwara at Lakhpat in Kutch district of Gujarat.

Dadar Express cancelled

Commuters travelling between Amritsar and Patiala have been put to inconvenience as the Dadar Express - the only mail train running between these stations- has been tentatively cancelled till August 6.

Gas agency owner booked
Ludhiana, August 2
The Jagraon police has registered a case against a gas agency owner for violating LPG control order. According to officials of the District Food and Supplies Controller, a check was carried out at the outlets of four gas agencies in the city following directions from Food and Supply Minister Avtar Henry in this connection.

Guru Nanak college students excel
Doraha, August 2
Students of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, have done well in M.A. (first year) Punjabi. Seven students have secured first division. Sehnez Begun with 258 marks out of 400 has got first position in the college. Similarly Baljinder Kaur and Simrandeep Kaur have got second and third positions by securing 257 and 251 marks, respectively.
