Haryana to set up IT corridor in Panchkula

Not willing to be left behind in the IT race, Haryana too announced the setting up of an IT corridor in Panchkula, during a function organised on the eve of a two-day mega conclave on Information Technology - e Revolution - 2005.

IT students a forgotten lot at mega conclave

E-revolution is happening in the heart of the city and yet the city youth are unconnected, untouched. Big names in the IT business, right from NASSCOM President, Mr Kiran Karnik, to Mr Mohandas Pai from Infosys to Pradeep Gupta from Cyber Media and Krishna Giri of E-governance (ASEAN)-IBM, are in the city doing a lot of talking and yet the next crop of computer engineers is nowhere to be found.

Two held for ‘links’ with Hawara, let off

The local police reportedly rounded up two persons for their alleged links with the Babbar Khalsa International chief, Jagtar Singh Hawara. Both the persons were later let off by the police after it failed to establish their links with Hawara.

698 students given admission
Chandigarh, July 14
A total of 698 students were admitted on day nine of the centralised admissions to government schools at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23, here today. While 492 students were admitted in the humanities stream, 201 sought admission in vocational stream and five went to the science stream.

Students to be honoured on Independence Day

The “Anjuman-2005”, an annual musical bonanza of the Shri Sai Arts brought alive the diverse folk culture of the region with sleek presentation of dances at Tagore Theatre today. Another laugh riot from Dhawan stable

Seats allotted ‘without proper planning’

The Chandigarh Sports Department has finalized the sports wing scheme, for the year 2005-06, the trials for which concluded at various schools today. The Department has made an announcement to allot 361 seats in the schools and 165 seats in the coaching centres.

SAI toughens stance on coaches’ transfer

The imbroglio over the recent transfer of coaches of the Sports Authority of India has taken a new turn with the Regional Directorate office at Sonepat writing a strongly worded letter to the respective heads of sports departments where these coaches were posted.

The three-day trials, to allot sports wing seats (schools) to deserving players by Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration, concluded here today. As many as 361 seats were allotted in the 17 disciplines during the trials, held at various schools.
