Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Haryana, Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm. are: Haryana: Hisar 4, New Delhi (Palam) and Sonepat 3 each, New Delhi (Safdarjung) and Tohana 2 each and Ayanagar 1, Himachal Pradesh: Bhang 1, Punjab: Nangal 1, east Rajasthan: Salumber 8, Shergarh 6, Banswara 5, Malsisar 4, Danpur, Digana, Dariabad, Garhi and Merta 3 each, Ajmer, Bijoliya, Chikli, Galiakot, Ganeshpur and Ladnu 2 each and Kotputli, Kishanganj, Mandawar, Mahuwa and Pilani 1 each, West Rajasthan: Kolayat and Rajgarh 5 each, Pokharan 4, Bhopalgarh and Godra road 3 each, Barmer, Fatehgarh, Jaswantpura Sardarshahar and Tarangar 2 each and Jalore, Nokha, Sojat and Suratgarh 1 each, east Uttar Pradesh: Elginbridge 4, Katerniaghat 3, Balrampur 2 and Bahraich, Bhatpurwaghat, Bhinga, Lucknow (control room) and Varanasi 1 each, west Uttar Pradesh: Bareilly 9 and Uttaranchal: Dehra Dun 4, Pantnagar and Srinagar 2 each and Joshimath, Mukteshwar and Rishikesh 1 each. Temperature: Past 24 hours change: The maximum temperatures rose markedly in west Uttar Pradesh, fell in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and west Rajasthan and changed a little elsewhere. Departure: They were markedly below normal in Haryana and Punjab, below normal in east Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The highest maximum temperature in the region was 40.5°C recorded at Barmer (Rajasthan). Forecast valid until the morning of July 2:
