Rainfall: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh, at many places in Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Uttaranchal, at a few places in west Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in west Rajasthan. Weather was mainly dryin the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are:- Himachal Pradesh: Bhuntar 2 and Shimla and Sundernagar 1 each and Jammu and Kashmir: Banihar, Batote and Srinagar 1 each.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: The maximum temperatures rose appreciably in Punjab, rose in Jmmu and Kashmir and west Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere. Departure: They were appreciably above normal in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, above normal in Haryana and Uttaranchal, appreciably below normal in Himachal Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The highest maximum temperature in the region was 39.6ºC recorded at Jhalawar (Rajasthan).

Past 24 hours change: The minimum temperatures fell appreciably in Uttaranchal, fell in west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. Departure: They were markedly above normal in west Rajasthan, appreciably above normal in Haryana, east Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest minimum temperature in the plains was 9.8ºC recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of March 22: Rain or thundershowers will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Uttaranchal, at a few places in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in east Rajasthan. Weather will be mainly dry in west Rajasthan. Isolated hailstorm/squall is likely in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal during the next 48 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of March 22: Generally cloudy sky with possibility of light rain/thundershowers in some areas. Weather will improve by tomorrow. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 32ºC and 18ºC respectively.
