Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at most places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, many places in Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Punjab, east Uttar Pradesh and isolated in the rest of the region. The chief amount of precipitation recorded in cm. are: Himachal Pradesh: Bhang, Dhundhi and Solangnala 5 each, Kumarsain 4, Bhuntar, Guler, Nadaun, Rampur bushahar and Sundernagar 2 each and Berthin, Ghamroor, Kasol, Nagrotasurian, Pandoh, Patsio, Sunnibhaji and Shimla 1 each, Jammu and Kashmir: Batote and Jammu 4 each, Quazigund 3, Banihal, Katra and Kupwara 2 each and Srinagar 1 and Uttaranchal: Tehri 1.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose appreciably in east Uttar Pradesh, rose in Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were above normal in Haryana and east Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 3.°C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 24: Rain/snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain/thundershowers will occur at many places in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and at a few places in Rajasthan.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain or snow is likely in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal during the next 48 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of January 2: Cold day conditions are prevailing in Delhi. Generally cloudy sky with rain/thundershowers in some areas. Fog in the morning. Minimum temperature will be around 08°C.
