AG, Himachal Pradesh, win volleyball title

Chandigarh, January 7
Spikers of AG, Himachal Pradesh, downed AG, Punjab, 3-2 in the final of the North Zone Inter-Audit Volleyball Tournament that concluded today at the Sports Complex, Sector 7, here. The final scores were 21-25, 25-23, 4-25, 25-23 and 15-9. Five teams took part in the tournament.

Mr Nand Lal, AG, Punjab was the chief guest and he gave away prizes to the winners.

The North Zone team will now take part in the All-India Inter-Zonal Inter-Audit Volleyball Tournament to be held in Bangalore in February.

Student wins bronze medal

Raj Kanwar Singh Bhangoo, a Class XII commerce student of DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, won a bronze medal in the under-19 tennis category of the 50th National School Games held at Pune recently.

Raj Kanwar also participated in the ITF Junior World Ranking Grade V Tennis meet held in Karachi, Pakistan, in October and reached semi-finals in doubles.

He has been captain of its school team for the past three years. Mr Ravinder Talwar, Principal of the school, said Raj Kanwar was a dedicated player.

Yoga championship

Brahma Rishi Yoga Training College, Sector 19, won the Panjab University Inter-College (Women) Yoga Championship which concluded at Panjab University gymnasium hall.

They got 687/100 points. Second place was won by MBBGR Girls College, Mansowal, Garhshankar with 674/1000 points.

In the individual event Ritu and Dipti Nagpal stood first and second respectively.
