Two labourers buried as well wall caves in
Three injured in rescue operations

Mandi Ahmedgarh, December 6
While two labourers, who were buried while digging a tubewell bore at Seeloani village yesterday, are yet to be rescued, three persons engaged in the rescue operations also got buried today, but were saved in a joint operation by residents and the police. They were shifted to Civil Hospital, Sudhar village.

Probe ordered into fraud by Global Info
Ludhiana, December 6
The police today ordered a high-level probe into the alleged multi-crore fraud committed by an outsourcing company, Global Infomatics, whose officials have vanished after duping nearly 700 investors.

5 armed men take away businessman’s jeep

In a broad daylight robbery, five armed persons stormed into the house of a leading exporter in Block-K of Sarabha Nagar and decamped with a Black Scorpio Jeep after tying up a servant.

Congress leadership feels upset over Garcha’s remarks
Ludhiana, December 6
The latest outburst against certain Congress leaders, including the Mayor, Mr Nahar Singh Gill, by the Improvement Trust Chairman, Mr Ashok Singh Garcha, has shocked the party leadership here. It is not for the first time that Mr Garcha has ruffled many a feather by criticising some leaders, whom he alleges to be the corrupt.

Resident maintaining public park
Ludhiana, December 6
Calling the survey of the parks being done by the local administration following the directions of the Punjab State Human Rights Commission, as a mere eyewash, a local social worker, who has maintained the park in her area on her own, said no team ever visited to inspect it.

Foundation Day of Civil Defence celebrated
Ludhiana, December 6
The 44th foundation day of the Civil Defence was celebrated at the Bachat Bhavan here today. Deputy Commissioner Anurag Verma was the chief guest on the occasion and exhorted the volunteers and officers to be prepared to meet any eventuality.

YC activists burn effigy of terrorism
