Mr Satnam Singh Kainth, former MP and former President of the Bahujan
Samaj Morcha, at a press conference in the local PWD Rest house today
stated that his group would launch a statewide Dalit swaiman andolan
from November 17 to December 10 by holding demonstrations and protest
rallies at the district headquarters. The agitation would aim at a
seven-point social metamorphosis programme for the Dalits and the poor.

Elementary teachers threaten stir

The Berozgar Elementary Teachers Union (BETU) yesterday urged the Punjab Government to implement the Kapurthala Agreement reached between Cabinet Minister Lal Singh and representatives of the union on October 9 at the earliest. They threatened that if it was not done, the union would be forced to launch an agitation again.
