Hockey upstages cricket
Stadium overflows with fans, thousands
go back disappointed

Chandigarh, October 6
Hockey overshadowed cricket for a day as more than 40,000 persons turned up to watch the India-Pakistan tie today afternoon, forcing the organisers to close the entry points to the stadium. This left thousands of fans outside the stadium with invitation cards in their hands.

Teacher beats up students for quitting tuition
Chandigarh, October 6
Three students of Saraswati Public School, Dhanas, were allegedly beaten up with sticks by their mathematics teacher here today. The students claimed that their teacher had been slapping them for the past three days on one pretext or the other, but today, in a fit of rage, he beat them up with sticks.

Make education meaningful for girl child, says ICSE Chief Executive

HC to have new Judges soon

The State of Environment (SoE) Report may have rapped Chandigarh for its poor air quality, but it rates the city’s waste disposal management among the best in the country. Investigators say the practice of waste segregation, as applicable here, is not being adopted in most cities of the country.
