Power cut time halved

The two-hour power cut has been reduced to one hour following the Chandigarh Administration purchasing power through power trading companies and getting an increased allocation of power from the Union Power Ministry.

Paid parking: markets to be studied

The introduction of paid parking in the markets of Sectors 34, 35 and 22 was deferred by the House at the monthly meeting of the municipal corporation today.

Newly wed woman commits suicide, husband held

Punwire sale to be advertised again

The Punjab Wireless Limited (Punwire) has failed to bring in any serious bidders to buy it. The assets of company, wholly owned by the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation, was put up for sale on June 25, but would be advertised for sale once again to attract better offers.

Cell a health hazard, say doctors
Excessive use of mobile phones can be a health hazard. The former President of Indian Medical Association(IMA) Dr G S Kochhar has cited several international studies to stress on the harmful effects of the cell phone. A study of the Finland’s Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, has found that the radiation from mobile phones can cause damage in human cells that might effect the brain.
