BKU’s advice to Punjab on SYL
Ludhiana, June 14
The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) has
emphasised that rather than filing a review petition against the Supreme
Court judgement on SYL canal, the Punjab Government should challenge the
relevant sections of Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966, to seek rightful
distribution of river water.
Power cuts lead to shortfall in steel production

The long duration power cuts
introduced by the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) in the steel
sector of the city has led to a massive shortfall in the production of
steel. With this the steel prices have once again gone up leaving the
industry sulking.
Residents hold protest against water shortage

Residents of Post and Telegraph (P&T) Colony, Tagore
Nagar continued their protest against the shortage of water supply
in their locality for the fifth day today. The agitating employees
burnt the effigies of some officials who they claimed were not
listening to their grievances.

Families of martyrs honoured

Punjab is the only
example in the world which has completely controlled the militancy. This
was stated by Mr Iqbalpreet Singh Sahota, DIG, Patiala Range, while
addressing a function organised by the Municipal Committee and
industrialists here last evening, in memory of the martyrs of the police
force of district Fatehgarh Sahib, who laid down their lives to control
the militancy.
Aid disbursed
among 651 widows

The Shri Gyan Mandir Sabha held its
82nd monthly widow pension-distribution function at the Subhani Building
chowk here yesterday. Relief in the form of ration and other household
items of daily use were disbursed among 651 widows of the town.

segment turned out to be a protest rally by Congressmen against the
state government. Most of the speakers aired their anguish against the
