Salwan School retain Parle Cricket Cup

New Delhi, May 14
Salwan Boys School, Rajinder Nagar retained the Parle Inter-City Cricket Cup for Under-17 for the fourth time in a row in the title clash in Mumbai. The Salwan Education Trust, running various schools in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh felicitated the team at a colourful function.

Chairman of the Salwan Education Society S D Salwan hailed the feat of the boys and coach Sanjay Bhardwaj.

Trustee Inder Dutt Salwan and Mr Sushil Dutt Salwan, chairman of Salwan Girls School, assured the team all facilities in their attempt to scale greater heights.

DSA Institutional League from May 17

New Delhi, May 14
The Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) will hold the Institutional League from May 17 at the Ambedkar Stadium.

Zakir Hussain College will meet Food Corporation of India in the opening match at 4 pm on May 17 while All-India Institute of Medical Sciences will take on Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd in the second match at 5.15 pm.

Punjab National Bank take on Delhi Development Authority on May 18 at 4 pm followed by a match between Urban Development Ministry and Delhi Transport Corporation at 5.15 pm.

The prominent participating teams include reigning champions Delhi Audit, five-time former champions FCI (North Zone), Employees State Insurance Corporation of India (ESIC), Oriental Bank of Commerce, FCI (Hq), Northern Railway, Urban Development Ministry, Bank of Baroda, Reserve Bank of India, Central Secretariat, Zakir Hussain College, Delhi Development Authority, Delhi Transport Corporation, Indian Airlines, Delhi Administration, Bharat Sanchar Nigam, All-India Institute of Medical Sciences and Railway Board.

The preliminary league will be played in two divisions—Senior and A. Top teams of both the divisions will qualify for the Super League..

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association will be held on May 16 at 10.30 am at the Zakir Hussain College premises.

The DSA ‘B’ and ‘A’ and Senior Division Open Clubs League Championship will be held in June, July and August respectively, at the Ambedkar Stadium.

The teams playing in the Senior and A Division have been divided in two groups, which are: Senior Division: Group A: Audit, ESIC, Zakir Hussain, FCI and Delhi Admn. Group B: NR, FCI (NZ), PNB, OBC and DDA. A Division: Group A: Central Excise, RBI, BOI, DTC, Rly Board and Urban Development. Group B: AIIMS, BSNL, IGPCL/BESES, Jal, Central Secretariat and AAI.

Aditya bowls Madras Club to victory

A fierce bowling display by leg-spinner Aditya Jain (4 for 27) and a dashing knock of 48 by left-handed Mahesh Sood helped Madras Club crush Chand Khanna by 18 runs in the third I.D.Paul Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Apex Public School ground.

Puneet Jain, who claimed four wickets for 23 runs and took three catches for Chand Khanna, was declared the man of the match. Scores: Madras Club: 172 for 9 in 25 overs (Mahesh Sood 48, Varun Sharma 32, Satish Salwan 30, Puneet Jain 4 for 23, Ravi Sengar 4 for 40).

Chand Khanna: 154 for 8 in 25 overs (Vivek Goel 35, Piyush Sharma 30, Neeraj Ranga 30, Aditya Jain 4 for 27).

Ramjas cricket camp

Ramjas Sports Foundation will organise a cricket coaching camp for players in the age group of 8 to 18 years at the Ramjas Sports Complex, West Patel Nagar, from May 17.

16 teams for Goswami Ganesh Dutt Cricket

New Delhi, May 14
Sixteen teams, including defending champions Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, 11 times champions Indian Airlines and last year’s runners-up Sonnet Club, will participate in the Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament.

The other teams in the fray are: Young Friends, Lal Bahadur Shastri Club, South Delhi Colts, Air Sahara, Collage Group, Rajdhani Sports, Gush XI, Chand Khanna, Youngsters, Food Corporation of India, R P Academy, H.P Cricket Association (Chamba) and S G Sports, Meerut. Four teams have been given byes up to the quarter-final while four other teams have been directly placed in the second round.

Delhi and District Cricket Association sports secretary Sunil Dev and vice-president C K Khanna will jointly inaugurate the opening match on May 16 at the Sant Harcharan Singh Longowal Sports Complex ground, Maurice Nagar.

Medical test for umpires

Umpires from North Zone and Central Zone on the panel of the Board of Control for Cricket in India will undergo a medical examination at the Apollo Hospital, New Delhi on May 15 and 16, according to National Cricket Academy vice-president C K Khanna.

Kartik, Anmol shine for Hansraj School

An all-round display by Kartik Bhatiya (47, 5 for 39) and half centuries by Anmol Sharma (87 n o) and Sidharth Mandlay (51, 4x4, 5x6) enabled Hansraj School, Punjabi Bagh defeat Harry Coaching Centre by six wickets and entered the semi-final of the Achrekar Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the Paschim Vihar ground.

Scores: Harry Coaching Centre: 224 all out in 39 overs (Gurpreet Singh Namdhari 68, Kartik Bhatiya 5 for 39). Hansraj School: 225 for 4 in 32 overs (Anmol Sharma 87, Sidharth Mandlay 51, Kartik Bhatiya 47).

Royal Cup Cricket

G E Capital enter semis

Deadly bowling by Rodney Charles (5 for 4) steered G E Capital to a 10-wicket victory over Hughes Software System and entered the semi-final of the CallC Cup Cricket Tournament at the Ramjas ground. Rodney Charles was named the man of the match.

Geet, Arush star in Madan Lal Academy’s win

A dashing century by Geet Arora (113, 20x4) and deadly bowling by Arush Khanna (8 for 34) helped Madan Lal Cricket Academy defeat Roshnara Club by 34 runs in a limited-over match at the Roshanara ground.

Scores: Madan Lal Academy: 222 for 4 in 40 overs (Geet Arora 113, Gaurav 32, Sahej Khanna 36). Roshanara Club: 188 all out in 35 overs (Shartaj Singh 55, Arush Khanna 8 for 34).

Indian Oil Servo win

Indian Oil Servo XI beat HTA by six wickets in the Century Cup Cricket Tournament at the IIT ground. Kamal was adjudged the man of the match.

Scores: HTA: 190 for 8 in 25 overs (Asutosh 69 no, Naresh 31, Rishi 27, Parveen 2 for 25, Raju Gill 2 for 43, Sanjay 2 for 28).
