Rally by homoeopathic college
staff Ludhiana, May 5 Speaking on the occasion, Dr Deepinder Singh, president, ATS, said despite stringent directions by the university and the state government , the college was not paying proper scales to the teachers. The protesters said teachers were being paid 16 per cent to 18 per cent of the recommended salary. The association has been struggling for the past one year now for the implementation of the new pay scales. During this period, several meetings with the management were also held but no concrete result came out of these because of the “adamant” attitude of the management. “The management only wanted to exploit teachers financially and students by not providing proper faciltities,” alleged the staff. The association had also approached the Medical Education Minister and Secretary, Medical Education and Research, Punjab, at Chandigarh. The Punjab Government directed the university to take care of the teachers’ demand and asked to report. The university, through its latest directions, asked the colleges to tell the status of the teachers’ salary within one month. So far no action has been taken by the management in this regard, alleged the teachers. They further maintained that the management had decided not to comply with the government or university orders. In a memorandum given to the Principal and management, teachers further stressed that if the directions of the Punjab Government and the BFU were not implemented immediately, they would be forced to intensify their movement and start dharna from May 15. |
